Ka Makana Ali'i Mural
This project is a collaborative illustrated mural for the Ka Makana Ali‘i mall in Kapolei, Hawaii. The mural spans from 180″x108″ with each section featuring what makes Hawai‘i unique from mauka to makai and my section is focused on sea and shore.
The ocean and our beaches have always been of great significance to Hawai‘i and play a major role in the lives of people on these islands. I wanted to capture the beauty and power of the ocean and depict the significance of surfing, paddling, and sailing in Hawai‘i. Hawaiians have traveled great distances using the stars as key tools in Polynesian way finding. The illustrations celebrate a legacy of discovery.
